Police have arrested a man allegedly behind the killing of a barangay chairman in Zamboanga City.

The suspect identified as alias “Bro” was arrested with suspected illegal drugs worth around P1.3 million during a drug buy-bust operation.

He was allegedly involved in the killing of Barangay Cawit Chairman Serbelio Molina on December 1, 2023.

Molina was shot dead by riding-in-tandem suspects while he was on his way to the barangay hall.

The 28-year-old suspect was also tagged in the shooting of a 21-year-old man in Barangay Cawit.

Meanwhile, authorities also arrested another suspect in a separate shooting incident in Barangay Vitali.

Police Station 1 and the Zamboanga City Drug Enforcement Unit received P100,000 each as a reward for the arrest of the two suspects.

According to the city government, the cash incentives was intended to boost the morale of the police and to further strengthen efforts to curb all forms of criminality in the city.
