Despite heavy rains brought by #JulianPH, residents of Mangaldan, Pangasinan flocked to the Commission on Elections (COMELEC) to catch the last day of voter registration on September 30, 2024.

Daryl Idanan, a resident of Barangay Talogtog, was one of those determined to register.

"Busy masyado sa trabaho, ngayon lang may time kaya ngayon lang ako magpa-register," he said.

COMELEC-Mangaldan implemented a 3 p.m. cutoff, meaning all those in line by that time would have their applications processed, even if it extended past the 5 p.m. deadline.

"Wala nang extension, last day na talaga ngayon," Municipal Election Officer Gloria Cadiente said.

The filing of Certificates of Candidacy (COC) for the 2025 midterm elections begins on October 1, 2024.

Some aspirants in Mangaldan have already started checking their forms and documents at the COMELEC office.

"Kapag may kulang, masabi pa namin," Cadiente said.

In preparation for the elections, over a hundred police officers from Abra have undergone training to serve as motorcycle patrols, strengthening security and ensuring a quick response to any incidents.

Abra is one of the provinces closely monitored due to intense political competition during elections.
