A fire engulfed a building on AB Fernandez Avenue in Barangay I, Dagupan City evening on September 29, 2024.

The blaze started at around 9 p.m., originating from the back of the building.

The Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) was close to declaring a fire out when it reignited at 1 a.m., prolonging the firefighting operations.

"Actually medyo nahirapan lang ‘yung firefighting team natin... kasi ang paninda nila is plastic wares," said Fire Marshal FCInsp. Michael Escaño said.

No one was injured, but the fire resulted in over ₱13 million in damages.

"Walang magawa, siyempre galing sa kabila damay na kami. Kawawa kami," Steve Dy, a businessman affected, said.

The BFP continues to investigate the cause of the fire, with an old electrical wiring, worsened by the rainy season, seen as a possible factor.
