A 22-year-old rider died after his motorcycle crashed into a taxi on CM Rector Avenue in Cagayan de Oro City.

According to the Traffic Enforcement Unit of the Cagayan de Oro City Police Office (COCPO), the incident happened around 2 a.m. on Saturday, September 28, 2024.

Police said the taxi was reportedly traveling from the east part of the city while the motorcycle was on the opposite lane.

The taxi allegedly made a left turn going to a gasoline station when the motorcycle crashed into it.

There were reports that the victim was allegedly involved in a drag race, which may have caused the accident.

However, police could not confirm such.

So katung hitaboa wala man sab mu-stand nga mustorya sa ako nga ‘Sir nag-drace na sila’ wala man so dili nako makumpirma,” Rauya said.

The taxi driver was placed under police custody while waiting for the family of the victim to decide if they would file charges.
