A Blackhawk helicopter of the Philippine Air Force (PAF) was forced to land at a school in Tukuran, Zamboanga del Sur due to bad weather.

The incident stirred students and teachers who were in an opening ceremony for the Boys and Girl Scout Camporal.

The chopper landed safely at the school oval. No one was hurt.

According to the 1st Infantry Division (1ID), the helicopter was transporting a passenger from Pulacan, Zamboanga del Sur to Cotabato City.

However, the pilot decided to make an emergency landing at a nearest safe location because of decreasing visibility due to severe weather conditions.

“We understand that this unexpected landing caused alarm among the students and faculty present on campus, as they were unaware of the helicopter’s situation,” 1ID said in a statement.

“We sincerely apologize to the students, parents, and faculty members who were startled by this event. Rest assured, the landing was purely precautionary and related to the adverse weather conditions, and not to any other concerns,” 1ID added.

The helicopter eventually flew back to its journey to Cotabato.
