A police patrolman was injured after a grenade thrown into a police outpost in Barangay Sunrise, Isabela City, Basilan exploded evening on Sunday, September 30, 2024.

According to the Police Regional Office-Zamboanga (PRO-9), a personnel of the Regional Mobile Force Battalion-9 (RMFB-9) assigned at the Community Police Assistance Center (COMPAC) was slightly wounded when the grenade went off.

He was rushed to the hospital for treatment. He is now safe.

Authorities are investigating the incident to determine the motive and identify the perpetrators who threw a hand grenade at the COMPAC.

“Sa ngayon under investigation ang kaso na ito, yung (nakuha) a SOCO natin is allegedly ang gamit nito is fragmentation hand grenade. Yun pa lang po ang nakuha natin and all the rest is under investigation ng PNP at AFP na nasa area,” PRO-9 Chief Information Officer, Lt. Col. Helen Galvez, said.
