A magnitude 5.1 earthquake was recorded off Poro town in north Cebu at 2:53 p.m. on Sunday, September 29, 2024.

Earthquake Information No. 1, issued by PHIVOLCS, first reported that the earthquake measured at 5.0.

The quake occurred at 10.49°N, 124.38°E - 015 km S 11° W of Poro in the Camotes Group of Islands, tectonic in origin, and occurred at a depth of 11 kilometers. 

Intensity IV was felt in Poro and City of Talisay, Cebu; Candijay, Duero, Inabanga, President Carlos P. Garcia, San Miguel, Sierra Bullones, and Talibon, Bohol; City of Baybay, Hilongos, Hindang, and Matalom, Leyte; 
Intensity III in San Fernando, Cebu; Garcia Hernandez, Bohol; Albuera, Merida, and Palompon, Leyte; Ormoc City; Sogod, Southern Leyte;
Intensity II in Argao, Cebu; Isabel, Javier, and Villaba, Leyte; Hinunangan and Hinundayan, Southern Leyte; and
Intensity I in Carigara, Dulag, and Matag-ob, Leyte.

Intensity IV - Cebu City; City of Baybay and Hilongos, Leyte
Intensity III - Hinunangan and Sogod, Southern Leyte
Intensity II - Argao and San Fernando, Cebu; Javier, Leyte
Intensity I - Alangalang, Carigara, Dulag, and Kananga, Leyte

No damages were reported, as of posting time. However, Earthquake Information Number 2 indicated that damages are expected.
