With just three days left before the voter registration deadline, the Commission on Elections (COMELEC) in Pangasinan is investigating complaints of alleged voter hauling.

As voter registration picks up in various towns across Pangasinan, the provincial COMELEC office has been receiving reports of groups allegedly being transported to register.

However, Provincial Election Supervisor Ericson Oganiza clarified that the data they gathered does not suggest any unusual activity.

“Kapag tinitingnan namin ang data or statistics, hindi naman nanggagaling lang sa isang lugar. Kalat-kalat naman kaya masasabi naming hindi unusual," Oganiza said.

As of this writing, Pangasinan has 2,113,120 registered voters, around 40,000 short of the 2,155,906 registered for the 2023 Barangay and SK elections.

“Sana makaabot tayo sa ganung bilang o kung hindi man, at least mailapit natin sa dating bilang,” Oganiza said.

In Dagupan City, long lines of voters could be seen at the COMELEC office, most of whom were transferring their registration.

"Dito na kasi ako mag-reside kaya kahit pila-pila dahil deadline na, okey lang naman," Laudemar Dela Cruz, a voter who moved from Manila, said.

The registration process will continue through the weekend until Monday, September 30, 2024.
