A 40-year-old motorist was injured after construction material that fell from an edifice hit him.

The victim identified as Edgar Rago Gonato, Jr. was plying Pope John Paul Avenue, Barangay Mabolo, Cebu City at past 8 a.m. on September 26, 2024 on his way to work at a bakeshop near the building undergoing construction.

Based on the investigation of the Mabolo Police Station, three steel pipes were taken to the 11th floor of the building but fell, got snagged in an electric power line, and bounced upon hitting the pavement.

The pipe hit Gonato who was on board his motorcycle at that time on his way to work.

The victim was rushed to the hospital, suffered from an arm fracture but is now out of danger, as of this writing.

Meanwhile, the contractor vowed to shoulder Gonato’s hospital expenses, police added.
