A case for rape has been filed against the stepfather of the 15-year-old girl from Bacolod City who was found dumped in a sugarcane field in La Carlota City.

The mother of the Grade 10 student who was found dead in a sugarcane field in La Carlota City, Province of Negros Occidental, in August 2024, signed an affidavit used to file a rape case against the victim's stepfather.

Jennifer Galve, the mother of the victim, Pearl Joy Galve, filed a case against her live-in partner identified as Rene Nacis.

Earlier, Nacis admitted reportedly to molesting Pearl Joy in the past.

Jennifer arrived at the office of the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) Bacolod District Office at past 2 p.m. on September 25, 2024. Jennifer affirmed her willingness to stand as witness against her live-in partner, along with relatives that Pearl Joy had confided with about episodes of molestation, according to NBI Bacolod.

According to the NBI, they are waiting for the resolution from the fiscal’s office and once this reaches the court, and a warrant be issued, they will have Nacis arrested.

They have information that the suspect has remained in Bacolod City.

Further, gathering of evidence is ongoing to support a murder case that NBI Bacolod is determined to file against Nacis in relation to Pearl Joy's death.
