Two alleged members of the Dawlah Islamiyah-Maute Group (DI-MG), including a minor, surrendered to authorities in Munai, Lanao del Norte.
Police identified them as alias “Habab,” 21, and alias “Turab,” 17. They also handed over their firearms and ammunition.
According to the Police Regional Office-Northern Mindanao (PRO-10), the two were on the watchlist and were known to be close friends.
PRO-11 said alias “Turab” was convinced by his parents and relatives to surrender and he also persuaded alias “Habab” to join him.
The two and the firearms are now in the custody of the 1st Provincial Mobile Force Company of the Lanao del Norte Provincial Police Office.
“This highlights the ongoing efforts of the government forces to secure peace not only in Lanao del Norte, but also across region 10. PRO10, along with other agencies, remain committed to ensure that former rebels receive the necessary support as they reintegrate into society, while we continue to strengthen our fight against terrorism,” PRO-10 Director, Brigadier General Ricardo Layug Jr., said.
