At least 78 families in Barangay Salaysay, Marilog District, Davao City have fled their homes due to risk of landslide.

They have taken shelter at the evacuation center. They have not been allowed to return home but are allowed to go to their farms so their livelihood will not be affected.

The City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (CDRRMO) said cracks were observed in the mountain following recent rains, which was why they recommended for the residents to evacuate.

The local government has provided the families with necessary assistance.

The barangay council is also looking for an area that can be used as temporary relocation site.

“Sobra na sila semana diri gumikan bitaw aning crack diri sa ibabaw sa ilang gipuy-an diri sa Sitio Masawang. Mi-declare ang taga-city (LGU) nga dili gyud sila pabalikon didto kay kung sige’g ulan, naa gyu’y tendency nga matabunan ang tibuok sitio,” Barangay Salaysay Chairman, Roberto Idang Sr., said.
