The Commission on Elections-Davao (COMELEC-11) has laid down the regulations for the filing of certificates of candidacy (COC) for the 2025 midterm elections a week before the filing starts on October 1, 2024.

COMELEC offices will accept the COC from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily, including on weekends, until October 8, 2024.

In Davao City, the COMELEC 3rd district election officer has been assigned to accept the COC for candidates for mayor, vice mayor, and congressman. Those eyeing for a city council seat shall submit their COC to the district offices.

“Ang COC nga among dawaton, five copies nga notarized naay picture, naay docs stamps tapos properly filled out talaga,” COMELEC-11 Assistant Regional Director, Atty. Gay Enumerables, said.

If the candidate belongs to a political party, he or she should also submit a certificate of nomination and acceptance (CONA). The absence of a CONA means the candidate is running independently.

Only candidates who belong to a political party have the privilege of a substitution only until the last day of the filing of COC.

“Ang only substitution nga gi-allow nga beyond October 8 nga maay changes is kung namatay, or disqualified later on nag-disqualify ang kandidato or incapacitated,” Enumerables added.
