Two men were found dead in separate barangays in General Santos City.

Police said one of the two was a 44-year-old construction worker and a resident of Purok Balunto in Barangay Labangal.

His decomposing body was found covered with a sleeping mat and was believed to have been thrown in Purok Mudia dawn on Saturday, September 21, 2024.

It was found that he attended a birthday party on Wednesday, September 18, and failed to return home since.

“Since ato wala na ni nakauli…however, we conducted investigation sa parents, sa kapamilya sa biktima aside sa iyang wife, giingon nga wala ni siya amigo or higala sa purok Mudiaa, mao ni karon ginavalidate nga mga statement,” PS-2 General Santos City Police Office (GSCPO) Commander, Major Carl Jayson Baynosa, said.

Investigators are still looking into the cause of death. They have also identified a person of interest.

Shortly before midday, another dead body was found at a grassy area of Purok Maunlad in Barangay Apopong.

Authorities said the dead body belonged to a 60-year-old caretaker of a property in the barangay.

He sustained multiple stab wounds in the chest.

“Based sa atung in-depth or follow-up investigation na discover ning atuang biktima is on the night of September 20 at about 8 o’ clock in the evening ning adtu ni sa balay sa alyas Toto, naa silay drinking session. Nag inum kini based sa atung witness pagka-alas diyes sa gabii nagdagan dagan na daw kini gikan sa balay ni alyas Toto, that’s the time nawala kini,” Baynosa said.

A person of interest who may have in the incident was also identified.

Investigation into the incident continues, as of this writing.
