A simple drinking session between two neighbors in Barangay Doyong, Calasiao, Pangasinan turned violent after a heated argument escalated.

Based on police reports, the two men figured in a heated argument, prompting the 52-year-old man to leave. He returned moments later, armed with a bolo, and challenged his 82-year-old neighbor.

In response, the older man reportedly grabbed a knife.

The confrontation intensified when the younger man attacked, causing the victim to fall, where he was then struck with the bolo.

The suspect also sustained a wound on his arm.

Both were brought to the hospital for treatment. Despite the violent incident, the two parties reportedly settled their misunderstanding.

“Sila na mismo ang nakipag-usap. Dito na i-settle ang hindi nila pagkakaintindihan, which is in-endorse namin sila sa barangay," PSMSgt. Apollo Flandez of Calasiao Police Station said, said.

Both men signed an affidavit reportedly stating they are no longer interested to press charges.

"Nagkaroon na sila ng settlement sa barangay at the same time nag-execute sila ng ‘affidavit of no interest’ sa abogado," Flandez said.
