A nine-year-old boy was found floating at the Macañao Irrigation System in Reina Mercedes, Isabela.
The boy was a resident of Barangay Macañao in Luna.
Local authorities were alerted by a farmer who found the boy’s body near Barangay Cutog Pequeño.
The child had told his family he was going to visit a classmate but never returned home.
Initial investigation suggests the boy may have fallen into the canal accidentally and drowned.
