The Barangay Council of Pantal, Dagupan City has issued a warning about fraudulent solicitation letters being used to ask for financial help in the name of the barangay.

According to reports, two individuals have been soliciting financial assistance, claiming the letters are from the Barangay Council.

The fraudulent letters mention the death of a garbage collector, requesting financial help for burial expenses.

However, the name of the barangay captain is written incorrectly the document, raising suspicion.

“Nagtaka ako, ito nga, walang Barangay Pantal. Yung letterhead nila, sa provincial seal and Dagupan seal kaya, siyempre, doon magtataka na rin si attorney. Sa official seal na lang, hindi Barangay Pantal,” Barangay Captain Julita Perez said.

Perez said the barangay has not issued any solicitation letter and does not engage in fundraising activities.

She also confirmed that the name mentioned in the letter is not found in their official records.

Perez encouraged residents needing burial assistance to visit the barangay directly and submit the necessary documents to receive proper financial aid.

"Nung pinasa sakin, siyempre nagagalit ako dahil ano na naman ito. Pang-ilang beses na. Hindi naman kami nagpapasolicit," Perez said.
