Authorities ordered the closure of an alleged illegal quarry operation in Barangay Catalunan Grande, Davao City.

Police and personnel of the Mines and Geosciences Bureau (MGB), City Environment and Natural Resources Office, and local officials raided the quarry site after receiving reports of an alleged illegal quarry operation in the area.

Four workers were arrested during the operation. They did not issue a statement.

Authorities said the workers failed to present permits and other documents.

“Pag-abot didto gipangita ang documents, wala man silay gipresent nga documents. So, illegal ang ilang pag-quarry didto nga area,” Davao City Police Office (DCPO) Spokesperson, Captain Hazel Tuazon, said.

Authorities also seized two backhoes and dump truck used in the operation.

The workers arrested are facing charges for violation of the Philippine Mining Act of 1995 (RA 7942).

The permanent closure order was also posted on the gate of the site.
