A 50-year-old fish vendor was shot dead in Barangay Apopong, General Santos City dawn on Tuesday, September 17, 2024.

The victim sustained two gunshot wounds.

Police said the victim was heading to the fish port from home when unidentified assailants on board a motorcycle shot him and escaped.

According to the victim’s family, they were not aware if the victim had enemies, and they are calling for justice.

“Wala pa kuy nadunggan nga naa siyay kaaway… wala mi nag expect nga ing ana. Siya baya ang breadwinner sa amo,” victim’s family, Mariciela Dasilao, said.

Authorities are eyeing robbery or personal grudge as possible motive in the killing.

“We are still trying to determine ang pinaka-exact na motive, pero may tinitingnan tayong angulo na baka itoy isang holdap, o baka personal grudge,” Police Station 2 Deputy Station Commander, Capt. Cyrus Vince Arro, said.

Investigation into the incident continues.
