Cebu City, Madaue City, Lapu-Lapu City, and Talisay City have suspended face-to-face classes in different levels on Monday, September 16, 2024, due to the rain. 

The LGUs released advisories evening on Sunday, September 15, 2024, after experiencing heavy rains and winds. 

In Cebu City, Acting Mayor Raymond Alvin Garcia suspended face-to-face classes in elementary and secondary to ensure the safety of students. 

In Mandaue City, face-to-face classes are suspended in all levels. 

"Due to poor weather conditions, face-to-face classes in Mandaue City are hereby suspended in all levels (Pre-school, elementary, high school, and college)," it's advisory read.

Lapu-Lapu City Mayor Junard Chan also suspended face-to-face classes in all levels but said alternative module learning will be implemented. 

"Atong ipatuman gihapon ang alternative module learning kay daghan tag followers mga students dinhi nga gusto gihapon magpadayon sa ilang pagkat-on bisan nga anaa lang sila sa ilang tagsa-tagsa ka mga panimalay," Chan said. 

In Talisay City, Mayor Gerald Anthony Gullas said he spoke with the DepEd District Superintendent in deciding to suspend classes. 

He said wind gustiness, which can cause tree branches to fall is dangerous to school children.
