A two-year-old girl died when their house reportedly collapsed due to strong winds in Barangay Taluksangay, Zamboanga City morning on Saturday, September 14, 2024.
According to the local government, the girl was hit by debris. She was rushed to the hospital but did not make it there alive.
The severe weather condition experienced in the city also caused power interruption affecting some areas.
As of 3 p.m. on Saturday, more than 1,000 families were evacuated from flood-hit barangays.
These barangays include Tumaga, Guiwan, Pasonanca, Putik, San Jose Gusu, Tugbungan, Taluksangay, Sta. Maria, and Tetuan.
The City Social Welfare and Development Office (CSWD) continues to conduct profiling in other affected areas.
State weather bureau PAGASA said the bad weather condition experienced in the city is caused by the southwest monsoon.
