As weather conditions improve, only seven out of 16 barangays in Calasiao, Pangasinan remain affected by floods, with water levels decreasing steadily, allowing evacuees to return home.
“Thankfully po at gumaganda na po ‘yung panahon natin dito sa ating bayan, kaya patuloy na bumababa ‘yung tubig sa ating ilog," Kristine Joy Soriano, spokesperson for the Calasiao Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (DRRMO), said.
Among the barangays still affected by isolated stagnant water are Lumbang, Poblacion East, Talibaew, Lasip, Gabon, Ambonao, and Longos.
The DRRMO clarified that these areas are dealing with stagnant water, as there are no proper drainage outlets.
"Okay na rin. Masaya ako dahil makakapagtinda na ako sa maliit kong tindahan. Linis-linis lang muna dahil binaHA itong bahay ko," Luisa Valdez, a resident, said.
The Marusay River’s water level has dropped to 3.4 feet above normal, far from the critical eight-foot level.
Over the past three days, the river’s water levels have steadily receded, allowing the return of four evacuated families, comprising nineteen individuals, to their homes.
Despite these improvements, a blue alert remains in place as the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) monitors a weather disturbance outside the Philippine Area of Responsibility.
