Vice Mayor Noel Bisares of Pidigan, Abra was shot and wounded by a gunman while alone at his store in Barangay Pamutic early morning on September 12, 2024.

According to the police, the 56-year-old official was manning his construction supply store when an unidentified gunman approached and shot him three times before fleeing on a motorcycle with an accomplice.

“Pinaputukan ng tatlong beses, then nag-exit mga suspek, naka-motorsiklo sila, riding,” PMAJ. Allan Glenn Daria, acting chief of Pidigan Police Station, said.

Bisares was rushed to the hospital with gunshot wounds to his shoulder and side.

Authorities recovered three .45-caliber shells at the scene. Police are investigating the identity of the suspects, though closed circuit television (CCTV) footage has not yet been released to the public.

"May takip sa mukha yung isa, naka-helmet naman yung isa, pero medyo malayo, hindi masyadong makilala," Daria said.

Investigators are exploring possible motives, including political angles, although no prior threats to the vice mayor's life have been reported.

It is Bisares' first term as vice mayor.

Bisares is yet to release a statement, as of this writing.
