An 11-year-old boy was hit by a car while crossing the road on his bicycle in Barangay Malabago, Mangaldan, Pangasinan.

Closed circuit television (CCTV) footage captured the incident, showing the child crossing without checking for oncoming vehicles.

The car’s driver stepped on the brakes but the vehicle still grazed the boy, throwing him off the bicycle. The bicycle ended up under the car.

The boy sustained minor injuries, including scratches and wounds on his foot.

According to barangay officials, the parents of the boy and the driver of the car plan to meet and discuss the incident.

Barangay Chairman Myla Muyargas emphasized the importance of parental guidance, especially for children crossing the street.

"Ugaliin na pumunta sa lane na dapat na linya para maiwasan yung disgrasya. Kung tatawid tayo, tingnan natin yung kaliwa't kanan para hindi tayo madisgrasya," she said.

Motorists in the area also expressed concern about frequent accidents.

"Dito kami sa may bandang gilid, gumihilid kasi yung mga nakamotor na naksingle [ay] nag-overtake sa bandang kanan," Al Tubera, a driver, said.

Authorities continue to remind drivers and pedestrians to exercise caution on the road to prevent accidents.
