Two police officers were injured after an explosive that was meant for a Post Blast Investigators Course went off accidentally on the national highway in Libona, Bukidnon.  

According to the Libona Police Station, the police instructors and their trainees were on their way to a scheduled training and practical exercise on board a pickup truck when the explosion occured at a curved portion of the road.  

The pickup truck was carrying the explosive component that would be used supposedly in the practical exercise.  

“Mag-conduct unta sila og practical exercises. Kani ilang Post Blast Investigation Course while ongoing unta sila sa area kung asa sila mag set-up, naa’y component nga mibuto sulod sasakyanan aning mga instructor,” Libona Municipal Police Station Chief, Major Patrick Castro, said.  

Personnel of the Regional Explosives and Canine Unit responded immediately to the area to process the blast site.  

Those injured were brought to the hospital and are now safe. No one among the trainees was hurt.  

Police clarified that the incident was not caused by a bomb nor a result of a criminal activity or a deliberate act of violence.  

Authorities are already investigating the incident to determine the cause of the explosion.
