Two women were killed while seven others were injured after lightning struck them in Barangay Bantol, Marilog District, Davao City on Tuesday, September 10, 2024.
The fatalities were identified as alias “Emalou,” 49, and alias “Neneng,” 53, while a certain alias “Arlyn,” 49, was reportedly injured seriously. Three other men and three women were also injured.
All of them are farmers.
Based on investigation, they were reportedly harvesting rice when heavy rains poured, prompting them to take shelter under a nipa when the lightning struck.
Two were declared dead on arrival at the hospital while the rest are recuperating at the Southern Philippines Medical Center.
