The Davao City Council has passed a resolution urging the Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG) to investigate the alleged violations committed by the police during the service of warrant against Pastor Apollo Quiboloy at the compound of the Kingdom of Jesus Christ (KOJC) in Davao City.

The resolution is authored by Councilor Jesus Zozobrado.

Among the alleged violations include the encroachment on the constitutional rights of KOJC members and the illegal wearing of police uniforms by civilians.

Police Regional Office-Davao (PRO-11) Director, Brigadier General Nicolas Torre III, said earlier that their operation was conducted in accordance with the law.

But Zozobrado said: “Kung imo tung itandi sa balaod, duna gyud kalapasan gibuhat especially si General Torre… I want a clear statement from the DILG nga tarungon nato ni kay basin mag usab usab na ning ing-ani mahimo na ning precedent sa sunod basin naa napud moingon rag pwede diay pwede ra diay i-violate nato."

Zozobrado said declaring Torre persona non grata in Davao City is no longer needed as this is only a declaration.

“Ang Persona Non Grata is just making a statement na you are ungrateful and unwelcome here… wala man guy ngipon na,” Zozobrado said.

He is hopeful that DILG will respond positively on the resolution.

“I am optimistic that’s why I passed the resolution. I have high hopes na they will not ignore this,” Zozobrado said.

The Council has not received a response from DILG just yet, as of this writing.

Quiboloy turned himself in to the military on September 8, 2024, after 16 days of search at the compound.
