A 23-year-old criminology graduate died after the motorcycle he was riding crashed into a house in Barangay Bantayan, Mangaldan, Pangasinan on Sunday, September 8, 2024.

The victim was identified as Patrick Cimanes.

Cimanes suffered severe head injuries and was pronounced dead on arrival at the hospital.

His passenger also sustained injuries and, as of this writing, remains under observation.

"Mag-i-exam sana 'yan, siguro hanggang diyan lang yung buhay niya, pero talagang sayang, kawawa yung anak ko. Hindi ko tanggap," Rizaldy Cemanes, the victim's father, said.

According to Rebecca Mangsat, the owner of the house where the motorcycle crashed, they called for an ambulance immediately after seeing the victims.

"Doon namin nakita na may dalawang tao na nakahandusay. Siyempre, ang ginawa namin, tumawag ng tulong," she said.

Based on police reports, the victims were under the influence of alcohol during the accident and were not wearing helmets.

PCPT. Jerome Marquez, Deputy Chief of the Mangaldan Police Station, advised the public to practice defensive driving and avoid driving under the influence.

"Sana magdahan-dahan, mag-defensive driving lalo na kapag gabi... saka kung maaari, huwag nang mag-drive kapag nakainom na," Marquez said.
