The town of Gonzaga in Cagayan has been placed under a state of calamity due to a significant increase in the number of dengue cases.

According to the Municipal Health Office, the number of cases has increased with the onset of the rainy season.

From January to September 9, 2024, there have been 84 reported dengue cases in the town.

In response, local authorities have intensified fogging operations in different barangays to combat the spread of the disease.

Additionally, cleaning efforts have been carried out to remove potential breeding sites for dengue-carrying mosquitoes, such as clogged canals.
