A portion of Kennon Road in Camp 2, Barangay Twin Peaks, Tuba, Benguet has been closed temporarily after a section of the road collapsed due to continuous rains.

The collapse was caused by the rising water level at the Bued River, which eroded the ground beneath the road after days of heavy rain.

Authorities are only allowing residents and motorcycles to pass through.

"As soon as possible, pwede ganun para at least kung sino mang magbabiyahe hindi abala, pero kung for safety ganun talaga kahit na matagal, pero [kung] marami paring madi-disgrasya wala din," Raigin Dagasen, a motorist, said.

The public has been advised to exercise extreme caution when crossing the area.

Motorists have been directed to use the Marcos Highway as an alternative route for a smoother journey.

"‘Yung dating one way, nagka-landslide dahil sa nakaraang bagyo kaya nahulog ‘yung lupa sa ilalim ng kalsada. Nabutas ulit ‘yun, very risky sa mga dumadaan kaya close," PCMS Fabian Limbawan, shift supervisor at PCP-Camp 1, said.

The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) and the Kennon Road Task Force are currently assessing solutions to reopen the road as soon as possible.
