A wing van truck and a cement mixer truck figured in a head-on collision at Radial Road in Barangay Calaboa, Leganes town, Province of Iloilo. 

The drivers were pinned in their respective vehicles, while a truck boy was reportedly thrown off the cement mixer upon impact.  

The incident happened at 11:30 a.m. on September 10, 2024.

According to a witness referred to only as “JR,” a pump attendant at a gasoline station nearby, said that a tire of the wing van exploded that sent it traveling to the opposite lane instead where a  cement mixer was moving from the opposite direction. 

“JR” said that the two trucks were moving speedily. He said he even saw a truck boy thrown out of the cement mixer at impact. 

The two truck boys were first to be rushed to the hospital, as both the drivers were pinned inside their respective vehicles. Responding to them required the use of special tools. 

According to police report, the cement mixer truck was from Barangay Pulo Maestra Vita in the town of Oton, Iloilo while the wing van was heading toward the district of Jaro in Iloilo City. 

One of the two drivers was identified, as of this writing.

The driver of the cement mixer was identified as Fermin Ganatcha, around 40 years old, a resident of Dumangas town, Iloilo.
