A motorcycle rider who figured in a vehicular accident was later arrested for suspected shabu.
Carl John Arroyo, 29 years old, of Barangay Villamonte, Bacolod City was found to have possessed suspected shabu that weighed about a kilo with an estimated street value of P6.8 million.
Arroyo figured in a vehicular accident in Barangay Salvacion, Murcia town in Negros Occidental on the evening of September 7, 2024.
Responding personnel from Murcia Police Station said that during the investigation, they observed Arroyo’s suspicious behavior. So, they conducted further inspection on the content of his bag where illegal drugs were found.
It was learned that Arroyo traveled from San Carlos City on board his motorcycle on his way back to Bacolod City, but he dozed off while driving and collided with a car.
Later, Arroyo admitted reportedly that he works as a “runner” of shabu, and receives P5,000 for each transaction. He said he is a newbie in the illegal drugs trade.
As of this writing, the suspect is set to face charges for violation of Section 11 of Republic Act 9165 or possession of illegal drugs.
The driver of the car is also determined to file charges for reckless imprudence resulting to damage in property against Arroyo.
