A fire that struck in Carmen town, north Cebu Province left behind approximately P8.4 million in damages. 

The fire broke out at a residential area in Sitio Pasil, Barangay Cogon East, Carmen at dawn of September 7, 2024.

FO2 Milqy Cebe, duty investigator of Carmen Fire Station, in an interview with GMA Super Radyo Cebu, said they received a report on a fire at past midnight. 

The fire was raised to first alarm at 12:06 a.m. and on to second alarm at 12:12 a.m.

The fire was controlled at 12:30 a.m. and was put out by 12:50 a.m. 

At least 12 houses were destroyed while three were burned partially.  

FO2 Cebe said that based on data from the Local Government Unit of Carmen, the fire affected 20 families or 84 individuals.

No one was reported hurt in the incident. 

As of this writing, investigation is ongoing to determine the cause of the fire.

In his Facebook post, Carmen Mayor Carlo Villamor said that immediate assistance was provided to the fire victims.

The victims were provided temporary shelter beside the covered court of Barangay Cogon East.
