The chief of the Police Regional Office-Davao (PRO-11) has admitted that the police have dug a hole inside the Jose Maria College (JMC) Building of the Kingdom of Jesus Christ (KOJC) to supposedly locate the ‘bunker’ where they claimed Pastor Apollo Quiboloy is hiding.

PRO-11 Director, Brigadier General Nicolas Torre III, made the admission during the Senate hearing in Davao City on Friday, September 6, 2024.

Torre said some civilians were brought into the compound to excavate inside the JMC Building.

“I believe that we need experts on this matter especially on digging this hole. We want to ensure that these people have the experience that’s something that the police does every day so who are the people who knows and has the experience on digging, minero sir,” Torre said.

KOJC has cried foul over the digging.

"We really raised these concerns kasi ang takot namin doon sa ginagawa nilang tunnel, baka biglang magsasabi silang 'may nakita kaming minor person dito so nakita namin yan, may video yan, minor dinamitan ng pulis. At kumpirmado namin na sila ang nagpadala kasi nung bumalik siya, sumakay siya doon sa coaster ng PNP,” Atty. Israelito Torreon, chief legal counsel of KOJC, said.

The KOJC camp also wanted to confirm if the police have found a bunker when they scanned the compound using proton elic metal detector.

During the Senate hearing, KOJC said they received information that the metal detector used by the police was not able to detect a bunker.

“Gusto naming malaman sa kanya kung positive ba yun o negative kasi this is really a high-tech equipment, we were told, and this can scan the ground and determine whether, in fact, there is a tunnel at alam namin na yung hinire nila, negative po dalawang beses. So if the proton elic, which they used, they in fact used, provided negative results, then why are they doing this?” Torreon said.

KOJC is planning to conduct their own scanning of the compound using proton elic machine and challenged the police to go with them.

Meanwhile, Torre said around 3,000 police officers are needed to search the entire compound as he maintained that Quiboloy is still hiding there.

“Sa laki ng problemang ito, I need maybe 3,000 people to search the area for a month minimum. Even without the interference. Kasi kung ako naman may billion sir, makakagawa talaga ako ng bahay sa ilalim ng lupa. Pera lang naman ang katapat niyan… makakagawa talaga tayo ng bunker na pwede tayong tumira ng isang tao,” Torre said.

Torre urged KOJC to cooperate in the search for Quiboloy.

He said the police will be strict against those who will try to obstruct in their operation.

“We’ll be harder, sir, because walang katapusan ito. So we’ll be harder and we’ll be ensuring that everyone who obstructs justice will be arrested,” Torre said.

PRO-11 also clarified that no foreign entities are involved in the manhunt operation after a Boeing Vertol 107-II, a helicopter commonly used by the U.S. military, is spotted hovering the KOJC compound on Saturday, September 7.
