The Province of Bukidnon has been placed under a state of calamity due to the increasing number of dengue cases.

Based on the resolution passed by the Sangguniang Panlalawigan, dengue cases from January to July have reportedly exceeded the five-year epidemic threshold.

According to the dengue outbreak investigation report, the two cities and 19 towns have shown an increasing dengue cases of more than 5,000 with 17 reported deaths.

The Provincial Health Office (PHO) earlier said Malaybalay City has the most cases with 926, followed by Valencia City with 508.

With the declaration, the provincial government may now utilize the calamity fund to combat dengue.
