Operatives of the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) 7 implemented the search warrant on two edifices at Tourist Garden Hotel in Barangay Agus, Lapu-Lapu City believed to have been used as scam hubs.

The search was carried out on September 5, 2024. During the search, operatives found an array of computer sets, various cellular phones, Subscriber Identity Module (SIM) cards, vault, and documents.

Scripts written in Chinese characters were found believed used in the scamming operations.

Indonesian nationals were rescued reportedly in the said two edifices on August 31, 2024 by the Inter-Agency Task Force composed of the Philippine Anti-Organized Crime Commission (PAOCC), NBI, Inter-Agency Council on Anti-Trafficking (IACAT), Bureau of Immigration (BI), and the Philippine National Police (PNP).

The computer sets, documents, and other items recovered are deemed to strengthen evidence for a human trafficking case against the 169 foreign nationals arrested and transported to PAOCC in Manila on September 4, 2024 in relation to the reported presence of POGO (Philippine Offshore Gaming Operations) hub in the said area.
