Power has been restored in 15 local government units, including Vigan City, in Ilocos Sur after Tropical Storm #EntengPH caused widespread outages.

#EntengPH knocked out power across most towns in Ilocos Sur, leaving residents in the dark for two days.

The outages were caused by strong winds that toppled trees and power lines, particularly in Sta. Lucia.

“‘Yung pagkawala ng kuryente ay dahil sa Bagyong Enteng, mahangin tapos nabuwal ang mga puno pati mga kable,” Romeo Buenavista Jr., Sta. Lucia Disaster Risk Reduction and Management (DRRM) officer, said.

For many residents, the return of electricity was a huge relief.

“Mahirap talaga kasi hindi mo makita ang dadaanan mo sa bahay,” Rudy Bambilla, a resident, said.

Although rains persist across Ilocos Sur, the Provincial DRRM Office reports that river levels remain normal.

“So far, wala tayong reported na flooded dahil nga light rains and intermittent. Nakaka-adjust ‘yung ibinabagsak na ulan,” Rhon Arquelada, an Ilocos Sur DRRM officer, said.

Residents living near rivers are still on alert for potential flooding, while those in coastal areas are warned against venturing out to sea due to prevailing gale warnings.

In Ilocos Norte, heavy rains continue but are benefiting rice crops in their flowering stage. However, stronger winds can also damage the crops if conditions worsen.
