Camarines Sur has declared a state of calamity after Tropical Cyclone #EntengPH caused widespread flooding, affecting 866,431 individuals across 506 barangays.

The Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (PDRRMC) confirmed that 46.6 percent of the province’s population has been impacted by the heavy rains and destruction brought by the storm.

According to the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC) Situational Report No. 7, 13 areas remain flooded in the Bicol Region, while 36 have seen waters subside, and 11 are still experiencing receding floods.

#EntengPH has claimed the lives of three individuals in Bicol, with one person injured and 15 others reported missing.

Infrastructure damage has made 20 roads and seven bridges still impassable, as of 8 a.m. of September 5, 2024.

In response, the Sangguniang Panlalawigan passed Resolution No. 409, Series of 2024, officially placing the province under a state of calamity.

This move enables local authorities to stabilize the situation, with Governor Luigi Villafuerte stressing the importance of controlling the prices of essential goods and ensuring access to necessities for affected families.

Governor Luigi Villafuerte, in his statement, emphasized the province’s determination to rebuild.

“As Camarines Sur comes together in the face of adversity, this moment stands as a testament to the resilience and solidarity of its people," it read.

Villafuerte said they will work relentlessly to restore infrastructure, livelihoods, and agriculture.

“...even in the darkest of times, the strength of the People of Camarines Sur as a community shines through," it added.

Efforts to provide rescue, relief, and rehabilitation are now underway, with the local government, non-government organizations, and residents collaborating to help those affected recover from the aftermath of #EntengPH.
