Residents in Calasiao, Pangasinan are using an unfinished bypass road despite landslides and growing number of cracks caused by continuous rains.

Residents of Barangay Nalsian are using a bypass road as an alternative route, even though it remains unpaved.

The road has become increasingly dangerous due to landslides and large cracks caused by ongoing rains.

Motorists passing through the road are concerned about its condition.

"Dapat tambakan nila para hindi na lumala ang guho sa lupa para madaanan namin," Arnel Villacorta, a driver, said.

The situation has worsened since the recent storms, with the landslides extending further and threatening homes nearby. One such house, made of light materials, is at risk if the soil continues to erode.

Local authorities, including the Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (MDRRMO), have taken steps to address the issue by covering the initial landslides with large rocks.

However, they warn that the soil has become saturated heavily due to continuous rain.

"May naging effect ang init, ‘yung lupa kaya pa niyang i-absorb ang tubig. Pero ngayon [na] tuloy-tuloy ang ulan, expect natin na super saturated na," Kristine Joy Soriano, spokesperson for MDRRMO-Calasiao, said.

Meanwhile, a cellphone video captured another landslide in Barangay Baybay Norte, Sual, Pangasinan, damaging a metal barrier but causing no injuries.
