Authorities in Luzon are on alert as continuous rainfall has caused water levels in several dams to rise.

In Isabela, the Magat Dam's water level has reached 186 meters above sea level, prompting the National Irrigation Administration -Magat River Integrated Irrigation System (NIA-MARIIS) to postpone the scheduled water release on September 4, 2024.

In Pangasinan, the San Roque Dam has also seen an increase in water level, measuring 254.29 meters above sea level as of 5 a.m. on September 4, compared to 253.47 meters the previous day.

"May bahagyang pagtaas kung magpapatuloy pa itong pag-ulan pero kung since ang bagyo ay lumabas na, baka kunti na lang ang magiging epekto nito," Vincent Jun Chiu, the head of operations and training at the Pangasinan Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (PDRRMO), said.

Meanwhile, the Cayanga River remains at an above-normal level, while the Sinucalan, Bañaga, and Balincaguing rivers are below normal despite the rains.

The Marusay River, however, has risen to six feet as of the morning of September 4, compared to just over five feet the previous day.

The Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (MDRRMO) in Calasiao has alerted residents living near the riverbanks about the possibility of further water level increases.

"At the same time, ina-anticipate natin na ‘yung tubig na manggagaling sa upstream ay dito siya bababa sa ating bayan," Kristine Joy Soriano, spokesperson for the MDRRMO-Calasiao, said.
