The Davao City Veterinarian’s Office seized some 10 sacks of mussels or tahong that arrived in the city from Yabong, Samar due to red tide toxin.

According to a report by GMA Super Radyo Davao, wholesalers of mussels have said that they have local transport permit and certification from the Municipal Agriculturist Office of Villareal, Samar that the mussels were negative of red tide toxin.

However, another batch of mussels were examined and tested positive for red tide toxin, according to the City Veterinarian’s Office.

On Sunday, September 1, 2024, the local government confiscated all mussels sold at all public markets in the city.
