As Tropical Storm #EntengPH moves out of the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR), it leaves significant flooding and landslides across several regions, particularly in Bicol, where 102 areas were submerged in floodwaters.

Ten have died because of the storm. Relief efforts are ongoing for those affected.

#EntengPH, which intensified into a tropical storm on September 1, 2024, brought heavy rains and strong winds, particularly affecting the regions of CALABARZON, Central Visayas, and Bicol.

As of 8 a.m. of September 3, 2024, the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC) reported that #EntengPH, coupled with the Southwest Monsoon, affected a total of 37,867 families, or approximately 147,024 individuals.

Of these, 8,866 families sought refuge in 218 evacuation centers, while 411 families received assistance outside these centers.

A total of 10 people have died—seven in CALABARZON, one in Western Visayas, and two in Central Visayas. Additionally, 10 people were injured, all in Central Visayas.

The storm caused extensive flooding in 157 areas, with 102 floods recorded in the Bicol Region alone. While most floods have subsided, three areas in Bicol are still experiencing receding waters.

A total of four landslides were reported, three in CALABARZON and one in Central Visayas.

The storm also caused the collapse of three structures—one in CALABARZON and two in Central Visayas.

The estimated cost of infrastructure damage in the Bicol Region stands at P200,000.

The storm disrupted travel, with 19 domestic flights canceled, including seven from Region 5. Additionally, 954 passengers remain stranded, with the majority in Bicol and Western Visayas.

RESPONSE

In response to the disaster, the government has deployed 913 search, rescue, and retrieval (SRR) personnel across the regions affected.

A total of 12,481 family food packs and essential non-food items, such as hygiene and kitchen kits, have been distributed to the Bicol Region and Eastern Visayas.

The cost of assistance provided by the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) and local government units amounts to over P10 million.

#ENTENGPH

As of this writing, #EntengPH, which made landfall near Catanduanes on September 1, 2024, is moving toward the West Philippine Sea and is expected to exit the Philippine Area of Responsibility by September 4, 2024.

The storm is forecasted to intensify further and may reach typhoon category before making landfall in southern mainland China over the weekend.
