Personnel of the City Veterinary Office (CVO) of Cagayan de Oro confiscated four roasted pigs with no proper documents in Barangay Macabalan.

The barangay council and the CVO put the seized roasted pigs inside a sack for disposal.

The barangay council said the pigs came from Maramag, Bukidnon, according to the biosecurity officer.

“According sa atong Bio Officer ang maong baboy gikan sa Maramag, Bukidnon sumala sa papeles nga gipakita sa lechonero … So ang papel gi-examine iyang gi-relay didto sa City Vet office so kulang,” Barangay Macabalan Chairman, Engineer Saniel Raypon, said.

The barangay clarified that there is no confirmation yet if the pigs were affected by the African Swine Fever (ASF).

“Sad to say nga wala gyud mutugot ang City Veterinary Office kay mao lagi wala na silay chance nga maconfirm nila nga ASF-free ang lechon kay luto naman,” Raypon added.

CVO also explained that the confiscation of the pigs was among the measures to prevent the spread of ASF.

“Wala sila misubay sa atong meat inspection code kay namaligyaman gud sila og lechon. Unya kanang lechon man gud nga tadtaronunya ibaligya dapat sa slaughterhouse na siya ihawon, unya silanamaligya sila nga wala’y meat inspection nga nahitabo,” CVO head, Dra. Perla Asis, said.

The pigs seized will be disposed of based on the policy being implemented.

“Dili gyud mi mangaon anang na-confiscate sa ingon ana. Among gihimo among gi-police blotter dayun among gilubong kay naa man mi’y lubnganan sa mga baboy nga naconfiscate,” Asis added.
