One person was buried to death while five others were injured in a landslide in Cebu City caused by heavy rains dumped by Habagat (southwest monsoon) that was intensified by #EntengPH.

The landslide led to the collapse of a concrete wall riprap in the vicinity of a vacant lot in Barangay Punta Princesa, Cebu City, but the incident affected the other side in Barangay Tisa, that destroyed eight houses, killed a 17-year-old girl, and wounded five others at around 3 a.m. on September 1, 2024.

According to the Cebu City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (CDRRMO), the body of the victim was retrieved at around 9 a.m.

Heavy rains also inundated places in Bogo City, northern Cebu such as Barangay La Purisima and Barangay Bungtod . No residents were hurt. No evacuation was necessary, according to the Bogo City DRRMO.

According to the Office of Civil Defense 8, four local government units (LGUs) in Northern Samar, two in Eastern Samar, one in Samar Province, one in Leyte Province, and one in Biliran Province.

A Red alert status was hoisted over Eastern Visayas beginning September 1, 2024 because of the tropical storm.

The Province of Nothern Samar declared on September 1, 2024 a suspension of classes for Monday, September 2, 2024, in all levels in both private and public schools.

Cavite, Naga in Camarines Sur, Sorsogon City, and Bulusan, Sorsogon also declared a suspension of classes for both public and private schools in all levels, as of posting time.
