A fire hit Barangay Ketegan in Bautista, Pangasinan, destroying multiple properties and leaving a family homeless.

The fire began at the house of Elladia Mae Baltazar while her family was asleep.

Baltazar described the panic as they were forced to jump out of a small window to escape the blaze.

“May maliit kaming bintana. Malaki na ang sunog kaya tumalon na kami sa bintana na maliit lang. Masusunog kami o ma-trap sa loob ng bahay kung hindi kami nagising," she said.

The fire destroyed two houses, three warehouses, and five vehicles, including a new car.

The Baltazar family lost all their belongings in the blaze.

“Humihingi kami ng tulong na bumangon ulit at magpagawa ng panibagong tahanan,” Baltazar said.

The Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) suspects that the fire was caused by electrical wiring issues.

“Ang possibility talaga ay electrical short circuit due to overloading kasi ang nangyari ‘yung bahay na isa ay matagal na talagang na-establish," SFO1 Christian Lopez from the Bautista Fire Station said.

The BFP estimates that the total damage from the fire is around P3 million.
