The Land Transportation Office (LTO) CALABARZON is intensifying efforts to enforce pedestrian safety rules and prevent traffic violations that endanger pedestrians.

The LTO CALABARZON is targeting motorists who disregard pedestrian right-of-way laws.

According to Republic Act No. 4136, "The driver of any vehicle upon a highway within a business or residential district shall yield the right of way to a pedestrian crossing such highway within a crosswalk, except at intersections where the movement of traffic is being regulated by a peace officer or by traffic signal."

Elmer Decena, Regional Director of LTO-CALABARZON, emphasized the importance of respecting pedestrians.

"'Yung mga pedestrian tandaan natin ay para sa mga tumatawid, no? So, irespeto sana natin na mga motorista ang mga taong gumagamit ng mga pedestrian," he said.

LTO CALABARZON warns that motorists who ignore pedestrian lanes may receive a show cause order and could have their license revoked.

"Tandaan po natin na ang lisensya ay hindi rights, no? Ito'y pribilehiyo na binibigay natin sa ating mga kababayan," Decena added.

PLT. Clint Adora, Chief of the Police Community Relations (PCR) and Public Information Office (PIO) of Lipa City Police Station, advised drivers to remain vigilant.

"Sa mga nagmamaneho po, four wheels man po o sa mga rider, mag-ingat po. Lagi ping i-consider 'yung paligid, 'yung buhay ng iba," Adora said.

Authorities urge the public to report abusive drivers. They said there is no place on the road for motorists who act recklessly.
