Two people died in a crash between a motorcycle and a tricycle on the National Highway in Barangay Olo Cacamposan, Mangatarem, Pangasinan evening on August 27, 2024.
Emergency responders arrived at the scene and transported the victims to a nearby hospital.
The initial investigation revealed that the tricycle, carrying a couple, was making a left turn when it collided with the motorcycle, which had two passengers.
“Nag-left turn itong tricycle sa isang kanto, doon na nangyari ang banggaan ng tricycle at motor habang nagle-left turn," PMAJ. Ramsey Ganaban, Officer-in-Charge of Mangatarem Police Station, said.
Both parties were thrown off their vehicles and suffered head injuries.
The motorcycle passengers were drunk, having come from a drinking session before the crash.
Police said the tricycle driver was not wearing a reflectorized vest, which is a safety requirement.
Ganaban said motorists, including those on motorcycles and tricycles, need to wear reflectorized vests.
"Kailangan magsuot ng reflectorized vest ng ating mga motorista, hindi lang mga naka-single na motorcycle pati na rin ang mga tricycle. So that, mabawasan ang mga vehicular traffic accident," he said.
