A father and his 11-year-old son were caught on closed circuit television (CCTV) stealing from a restaurant that is under renovation in Dagupan City.

CCTV captured them stealing several items, including three sacks of rice, two liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) tanks, and a case of soft drinks.

The footage also shows the man covering the camera with plastic to avoid detection.

The restaurant owner noticed discrepancies in their inventory and reported the theft.

The owner said they were disappointed because the suspect involved his child in wrongdoing.

"Nakita namin na kasama niya ‘yung bata, napatunayan din namin na ‘yung bata na ‘yun ay anak niya, so nakakalungkot dahil siyempre sinasama niya ‘yung anak niya sa maling gawain," he said.

The police promptly arrested the man and his son.

"Nung nakilala siya nag-conduct kami ng follow-up operation na ito na ang pinag-resultahan ng pagkaka-recover ng mga items sa kaniyang pamamahay," PCPT. Shayne Daciego, Police Community Affairs and Development (PCAD) Officer from the Dagupan City Police Station, said.

The suspect, who has been charged, was released after posting bail.

Meanwhile, his son was turned over to the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD).
