Flight to Bantayan Island from Mactan Island opens, cutting what used to be a six-hour trip by land and a ferry boat ride to just 30 minutes.

The inaugural flight via a 72-seater twin-engine turboprop aircraft took off at Mactan Cebu International Airport in Lapu-Lapu City at past 8 a.m. on August 28, 2024 to Bantayan Island Airport in the Municipality of Santa Fe, one of three towns in the island.

In a post on “Sugbo News,” the official information portal of the Cebu Provincial Capitol, it was learned that the regular commercial Mactan-Bantayan flight route is scheduled twice a week, on Fridays and Sundays.

Airfare is set at P888 per person, according to Governor Gwendolyn Garcia.

“We’ve intentionally set the fare at P888 to ensure that everyone, including those who work tirelessly to make a living, can benefit from this opportunity. It’s about making travel to Bantayan Island accessible to all,” Garcia said.
