The provincial government of Camarines Sur has announced the suspension of afternoon classes from Kindergarten to Senior High School for both public and private schools on August 28, 2024, due to severe weather conditions caused by the Southwest Monsoon (Habagat).

This decision comes following a rainfall advisory from Department of Science and Technology - Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, and Astronomical Services Administration (DOST-PAGASA).

On August 28, 2024, Sal Fultuno Jr., the Acting Governor of Camarines Sur, issued a memorandum suspending the afternoon classes.

The weather conditions are expected to cause potential flooding and rain-induced landslides, particularly in areas prone to these hazards.

In light of the severe weather, parents and guardians were urged to pick up their children from school as soon as possible to ensure their safety.

"Parents and guardians are strongly advised to promptly pick up their children from school to ensure their safety during the inclement weather conditions," the memorandum read.

"In the event that travel is deemed unsafe, schools shall ensure that students remain safely inside classrooms until conditions improve," it added.
